Quick Practice Notes

Per Andrew Gross, the lines at practice were as follows:

Artem Anisimov-Derek Stepan-Marian Gaborik
Brandon Dubinsky-Brad Richards-Ryan Callahan
Ruslan Fedotenko-Mike Rupp-Brandon Prust
Carl Hagelin-Brian Boyle-John Mitchell

Also per Gross, the “spare” forwards of Wojtek Wolski, Erik Christensen, and Sean Avery were skating together as a fifth line. It’s kind of ironic when you think about it, as that is actually a line the Rnagers have used in the past.

As expected, Stu Bickel skated today, wearing number 41. Also as noted before, Jeff Woywitka ended practice early, as he is still banged up. Tim Erixon has been recalled on an emergency basis.

  1. So Strallman will have to see some increased minutes. He looked much better last game, aside from the ill-timed penalty. What did you think? And I will ask you again, have you heard anything about Sauer besides having a concussion? On SNYR they went into a Bobby Ryan trade in a little more detail.Good article.

    • Bad news.Just found out Tort’s stated Sauer is going to be a while. That doesn’t sound good.Last year it was our forwards dropping like flies and our D was lucky all year. This has to be the worst year ever for Ranger’s D.

    • I haven’t had the chance to watch the last few games, been really busy. Stralman is going to have to be good though.

Glen’s post on Bobby Ryan was a great one, he does a great job with the stats.

As for Sauer, we had a feeling he was going to be out for a while. This isn’t his first concussion…he had a bad one before he came to the AHL.

    • Yeah, get rid of the 2 of them for picks already.Let Avery play out his last year.If he is not hurting our cap situation leave him on the 4th line,if not send him down.

  2. Also, those 4 lines look pretty good.So hopefully Tort’s gives the 3rd and 4th line substantial minutes. He acknowledged the team was tired after the last game.Time to spread those minutes out a little more.

    • That is something I stated earlier, that there is a need to let the four lines roll. My thought process was that by year end, the players would be dead tired, but it’s starting to show up sooner than anyone thought!

      • Yep,I was saying the same thing. But Tort’s only trusts some guys.Thats why he puts them through a vigorous camp. This is something I will never agree with Tort’s on.All coaches shorten the bench, but not in the 1st period.

    • Torts got away with it earlier in the year because the schedule was so spread out. They played a lot of games in December, so it caught up with them.
