Watch HBO’s 24/7: Rangers/Flyers Here

I was initially going to do a full recap of last night’s episode, but my words and opinions just can’t do it justice. I will say this…I have a new found appreciation for several members of the Philadelphia Flyers and I am very happy there is now footage supporting the many positive things I have written about John Tortorella. If you think he doesn’t treat every player the same after watching this, then there is no hope for you haha.

With that said, I don’t want to spoil anything for those of you who haven’t watched it yet or who don’t have access to HBO.  Here is the entire episode broken down into 4 parts. Enjoy folks!

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

(Spoiler Alert)

I know we haven’t even scratched the surface yet with getting behind-the-scenes to this hockey club, as Lundqvist, Girardi, Staal, and Sather were either barely visible or notably absent. I am eager to see those personalities in technicolor as well as more from Coach Torts. What’s your take?

More reasons I love this site

Great job by hbo. I was surprised that they seemed to start taping last week. Weren’t the cameras supposed to be following the teams most of the season already? I was looking forward to seeing some behind the scenes highlights of the rangers flyers matchup from a couple weeks ago. Anyway, excellent job and I can’t wait until next week.

I believe they dispatched HBO crew for interviews earlier in the season, but as far as game footage then wanted to keep things current.

      Pumped for next week too!

Anyone else think it’s completely ridiculous to say that Avery grinning at AA was the highlight of the show as some bloggers are saying?

    • Matt says:

most of the blogs I’ve read have the Bryzgalov talking about the universe clip as the highlight…which I agree with.

    • Sioux-per-man says:

Not at all. First impression’s are the best. Sitting in the loccer room, waiting for a reaction, priceless. Both Avery and Gabby where grinning. Gabby “you shooting at the goalie artie?”
Great job by HBO. Can’t get enough of a good thing.

I agree it was a good scene, but the bloggers I’m talking about aren’t saying the whole scene was the best part, just the avery smirk. I think there was definitely better than that.

Anyone else love the part when Giroux took a step towards Fedotenko and he doesn’t flinch a muscle…that’s pretty bad ass.

Pretty good start for HBO. I thought they would work in the Flyers – Rangers game from last month where Prust dropped the gloves 4 seconds in. They play once more before the Winter Classic on the 23rd so I guess there will be a reference then.

Otherwise it was pretty current, tho it was interesting that it started with 2 Rangers losses despite NYR having won 12 of 14 to that point. They also mentioned concussions to Pronger and Giroux, yet didnt contrast with Staal (and now Sauer).

Great look inside the team, as to have been expected based on last years series.
