Preview: The Rangers are the hottest team in the NHL (six wins in a row), and the Islanders are the coldest (ten losses in a row). It’s amazing what a month can do, when the Rangers were travel weary and lost to a red hot Islanders team. This is a different story, and a different game. However, this has let down game written all over it, even if it is the Islanders. The Rangers can’t afford to be caught looking ahead to their showdown with Montreal on Saturday. The Islanders always come out strong against the Rangers, and will eat them alive if the Rangers overlook them.

Suit’s Take: It’s Rangers/Islanders, systems and self discipline always seem to go out the window when these two teams meet. Hopefully the Rangers avoid the BS and just get the job done.

Side note, I’d really like to see Avery avoid the box tonight and show everyone he still has good hockey left in him. Against this team though, his will is going to be tested.

Anyway, though the Islanders are struggling in all facets of the game, they are still a very, very quick team. Turnovers along the boards and in the neutral zone can bite us big time and the Rangers have had problems containing these transition rush-type teams in the past. Every Ranger from Arty down to Christensen is going to have to get the puck deep and finish their checks tonight. Get ‘er done.

Crazy Thought: Dubi starts lighting up the scoreboard, beginning with a three point night tonight.

Trap is an understatement,The Rangers have to bring their “A” game tonight.I’d rather the Isles be on a winning streak.Normally you can throw everything out thats happened to the teams before the game, but I’m sure the Isles are going to have that little extra tonight.Couldn’t agree more Dave, everybody has to bring it tonight. This is the type of game that could get Dubi flying and get him a couple garbage goals. If I still had my “Islanders suck” shirt,I would be wearing it.Let’s go Rangers.

Neither of us mentioned Mr. Avery.Tonight will be a good test for Sean to see if he can control himself. He is also with Brad so he will get minutes.I hope he does well.

this brings me back to 1993 when youngblood star (and father of christian thomas) steve thomas hat tricked on glen healy to end the great 14-game unbeaten streak.

maybe because that was the last (good) streak of the rangers that i can recall.

Almost blew it.Too many penalties.I guess we might as well start declining PP.5 on 3,no sense of urgency, pass, pass, pass, pass finally someone shoots it after a day and half to wind up,its blocked,go figure. That is frustrating. But we won so I’m happy.Avery stayed composed.Richards has a great shot.Back to complaining Henrik has to stay in the net.He never could handle the puck, just stay in your throne[net] where you are the King.

For the next 5 minutes or so, we are first in the Eastern Conference!
