This year’s winner of the Hartford Road Trip Bonanza is Kris Newbury, who has been recalled again by the Rangers in light of the Marian Gaborik concussion. Newbury has been up and down a few times this season, and has certainly earned that right to be the first call up. He has played well in his time with the Rangers. He won’t add offense, but he will at least play a grinding style that fits the Rangers style.

It is a bit surprising to see that the Rangers didn’t call up someone with more offensive prowess, considering it was Gaborik that was injured. However, it looks like someone like Mats Zuccarello (pure speculation) might get some more ice time in an offensive role. The Rangers are letting the kids play, that’s for sure.
