Over the past few weeks, NHL.com has paired with Stan Lee, creator of Marvel Comics, to create “guardians” for each NHL club. The ridicule of the “guardians” had gotten so bad that the site actually closed comments to each new “guardian” post. The other day, NHL.com revealed the Rangers “guardian” (below). I have to admit, I don’t like the whole “guardian” thing, but the design of each one is pretty cool.

The personality of the “guardian” is essentially the image of the city, just condensed into one singular “guardian”. The whole “guardian” project is an interesting way of bringing casual fans to the game, and while I may not like the whole idea, it’s been fun to read the comments. The pictures are very well put together though. What do you guys think of this “guardian” thing?
