Dale Weise was returned to Connecticut after the Flyers game. The Rangers don’t play until Thursday against the Lightning, so it makes sense that Weise gets some regular playing time in the AHL, and be called up again if necessary. Weise had a very strong game, and is very deserving of a call up.

Here is your link dump for today:

John Merrigan at Blueshirt Banter looks at how Nik Zherdev could have been a good fit for the team this year. Zherdev and Alex Frolov are very similar players, with Zherdev having the better year this season. I preferred Zherdev to the Ales Kotalik experiment, but it’s tough to really complain when Kotalik turned into Brandon Prust. Regardless, the Frolov experiment isn’t working offensively, and it would have been interesting to see Zherdev on the Rangers this season.

Michael Gleich of Bleeding All Blue looks at Marian Gaborik, and if he is truly a star, or just an opportunistic sniper. Personally, I think he is a top-ten player in the league who is in a bit of a slump. He is still a point per game player, but he hasn’t taken over games like he did last year. Eventually he will work his way out of his funk though.

The Hockey Suit has a very detailed look at the skating lessons Brian Boyle took with Barbara Underhill. Boyle took these lessons over the summer because he knew his career as a hockey player could be at risk if he didn’t find a way to improve his game. I call this a successful lesson.
